About the event

Expert herbalist, Ali English, will give a presentation on Traditional Old Lincolnshire Medicine

Ali is a local herbalist who has been fascinated (and amused) by the history of herbal medicine for many years. When she isn't giggling at the exploits of long ago herbalists and bad tempered apothecaries, she can usually be found either teaching herbal students, treating patients or working on her next book.

How did local people treat ailments before the big pharmaceutical industry existed? A look at the old traditional knowledge that was put to use for centuries making use of the herbal plants available to our ancestors.

Lincolnshire based medical herbalist, Ali English trained at Lincoln University, and is passionate about conveying a love of our native herbs and wildflowers.  The author of the popular Wild Medicine series of books, which aim to encourage and engender a love of our native plants and their many uses.
